IT contractors with specialist skills in cloud security will be pleased to hear that a new survey has found that these skills are in high demand.
The annual report, carried out by Elance, shows that the number of cyber security contractors expanded not just in the UK, but also around the world, between July and September.
Elance found that the number of businesses hiring and the number of freelancers working increased significantly over the same quarter a year ago.
According to the survey, requests for security engineers, security analysts and web security managers on a freelance basis are up 448%, 326% and 87% respectively compared to the same time last year.
The report stated: ‘As businesses both small and large continue to adopt the cloud for a competitive advantage in productivity and collaboration, security is increasingly becoming a must-have for companies seeking peace of mind’.
Other IT disciplines that hit record growth in the last year were game developers, which saw postings rise by 88 per cent, and game programmers, which saw a rise of 76 per cent.
‘As businesses seek to convert users to players and make commerce fun again. Gamification of the enterprise topped the trend list this year, prompting businesses around the world to take note of this engagement strategy—and they’re turning to online resources to find the best talent’.
